What should I take into consideration when spearheading an anthology project? What resources are out there for us? I'm organizing a book project to collect real-life stories related to the Others (non-Malay/Chinese/Indian, classified as "Other" on all official documentation) in Malaysia. This only started a few days ago, so it's all planning at this stage, but currently I've built up a great team and we're discussing issues on content, definitions, research, publication, and publicity. While some of us in the group have some experience with publishing (as a writer, editor, or just part of the process somehow), none of us really have that much experience in starting, organizing, and managing such a project. I'm doing quite a bit of brainstorming to work out what we need to consider, but would like some ideas and tips in case I left anything out.

My friend was served by a collection agency. She owes the money but doesn't have it. What's she do now? I recently met a nice gal who's made some of the stupidest financial moves ever. The most pressing problem is $4000 of debt with a collection agency. She's been unable to pay for months, yet instead of calling the collection agency she's simply ignored the statements. Today they sued her for the debt + attorney's fees. She has no money and no assets. Even if they go to court and a judgement is made against her in this amount, she'll have to get on a monthly payment plan like she is now. This isn't really worth much to the credit agency, so I'm thinking they'd be willing to drop the case as long as she acknowledges the debt is real and she starts paying again.

Estate disbursement question -- screwed? Long story short. My mother's sister died in 2005. She had an IRA. Her death, followed by other events, left my mother and her surviving sister not on speaking terms. This sister is the executor of the will. Deceased sister had an IRA account. It has been discovered that the surviving sister's lawyer put the IRA funds in to my Mother's name, and then withdrew the money. Thus sticking my Mother with the taxes on a sum she did not in fact receive. I realize that a lawyer has to be brought in to this, we are working on that now, but I'm wondering if any MeFiers might have some tips, ideas, anything as to what our recourse could be.

Disentanglement filter: My girlfriend has an inheritence, which is currently in the form of a stock portfolio which in her name, but her mom's name is also on it since she was under 18 when she got the inheritance (she is 21 now). Her mom is less than reasonable, and makes threats regarding said assets, so how can she (my gf) get the stuff to just be in her name, and keep the assets safe from her mom's prying fingers? Additional info: This is in the USA, in Florida, the value of the assets is ~$30K, we aren't entirely opposed to the possibility of a legal remedy, but aren't even sure how to go about such a thing.
